Do all batteries need same Firmware

which inverter you are using? Do you have console Cable to connect battery with laptop? or have wifi module with V5? share battery SN codes with us.

I am using a Deye 3.6k SG03lp1-eu hybrid. I got a email with new firmware .28 and upgraded both batteries. They charge up to 20 amp now. The problem I had with first battery and now the new battery is that they both keep discharging and charging continuously. Also the first battery charged to 100% before firmware update. It now charges max 98% and the new battery charges max 96%. What is making the batteries discharge and charge? Does the inverter control this or the BMS?

From what I’ve seen with similar setups, firmware versions don’t always have to be identical for the system to work, but keeping them aligned usually helps avoid odd behavior especially things like uneven charging rates (like the 270W/5A you mentioned). The tricky part here is that regional firmware releases (like Hungary vs USA) can sometimes differ slightly due to compliance or hardware variations, so jumping straight to the latest version isn’t always risk-free unless it’s clearly supported for your exact model (like the V5 heated).

Your situation with Ubuntu is also something I can relate to many of these tools are still very Windows-dependent, which makes updates unnecessarily difficult. It would be great if manufacturers offered more cross-platform support or simpler update methods.

In general, if both batteries are the same model (V5 heated), moving them to a stable, officially supported firmware like .28 (if confirmed compatible) might give you more consistent performance but I’d still be cautious and try to confirm with official support or documentation before flashing anything.

Interestingly, dealing with this kind of technical friction reminds me of my experience with Magia TV but in a completely different way.
