I am running an Outback off-grid system (no grid hookup, Radian 8048a, Mate3 controller) and I am setting up 3 – V5’s. The Mate3 does not have settings for High Battery Cut-out and High Battery Cut-in. Can these settings be safely ignored if not available (i.e. just depend on the High Voltage Cut-out built into the BMS)

Hi, if the battery voltage is approch the max voltage you should stop charging. Or it may cause damage to battery and danger.

      Hi Francisco,

Just did the same type of switch (lead acid to V5’s; 8048a, 2xFM80, Mate3). Best change I ever made!. You may need to update firmware, remove RTS (if installed) and make sure FNDC is calibrated.

Here is a link to the settings:

      https://www.solar-electric.com/lib/wind-sun/Pytes-integration-Outback-power.pdf

The last versions of firmware that was produced for these models included the High Battery Cut-in and
Cut-out selections but the settings are only available if you are
connected using OpticsRE. The versions are: Radian 8048a: v1.6.63
and for the Mate3: 3.19.1. Let me know if you have any difficulty finding the updates.

I should have also mentioned that if you have a Mate3S you may not need to upgrade firmware and the OpticsRE connection may not be necessary (mine was an older system).
