  • Pytes E-Box 48100R-C 100Ah 51V LiFePO4

Hello everyone, while I was on vacation, the monitoring system for our solar panels was accidentally switched off at home, and our Pytes E-Box 48100R-C 100Ah 51V LiFePO4 battery discharged to 0V.

Now I have the problem that my Victron system can no longer charge the two batteries; I assume a BMS protection has been activated. I got a LiFePO4 charger and connected the two batteries to it, and now the batteries are showing 40.0V charged.

Will the protection be automatically deactivated when I switch my Victron system back on, or what do I need to do now?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Cristian,

Thank you for reaching out. We understand you’re dealing with an over-discharged battery, and we’re here to help you through the recovery process safely and effectively.

    Important Safety Note
Over-discharge can cause permanent damage to battery cells. More importantly, attempting to recharge a deeply discharged battery requires careful attention to avoid potential safety risks. Please monitor voltages continuously during this process to ensure safety and prevent injury.

    Recommended Recovery Steps:

    1. Initial Charging Setup
Since your battery voltage is currently at 40V, you will need to use a DC power supply or charger to gently bring up the voltage before normal use.

    2. Charging Parameters

      • Set your DC charger to 48V and limit the current to 5A.

      • Connect the charger directly to the battery terminals.

    3. Monitor Closely

      • Open the battery top cover to access the cell pack terminals.

      • Check the total pack voltage every 2 minutes during charging.

      • Do not leave the battery unattended during this process.

    4. Target Voltage & Next Steps
Once the battery reaches at least 46V, you can disconnect the DC charger and try connecting it to your inverter. At that point, the battery management system (BMS) should recognize the voltage and allow normal operation. (some inverters might need higher battery SOC initially to connect with battery so you can charge upto 20% SOC)

    We’re Here to Assist
If you’d prefer real-time guidance or have questions during the process, we can arrange a remote support session. Just share your preferred contact method (email or WhatsApp) and we’ll coordinate a time.

Please proceed with caution and don’t hesitate to reach out for further assistance.

Monitor for few minutes if voltage is increasing keep charging battery otherwise stop.
