Pytes Firmware Upgrade
I have 6 E-Box-48100R-C btteries. 5 of them re running firmware 1.5.25.C16. The last battery (unfortunately) is running C8 firmware. Following instructions on the Pytes USA site, I used Hyperterminal to upload firmware 1.5.28.C16 which is the only C16 firmware available on the Pytes web site. Hyperterminal started the upload but then went silent. I tried the wake function on the BMS software and tried the upload from there, the upload completed, but the battery failed to update. I suspect that I need to update the bootloader, but I need to get the battery operational to do that. Very frustrating that there are not older versions of the firmware available on the Pytes USA web site. What do I do now?

yes you are right, all batteries need to be C16 to communicate with each other. C8 version of battery might have old boot loader version. First you will need to update boot loader. Then you can update firmware of battery.
In your scenario, You need to provide actual situation of the battery. Give us more information about if battery can be started or not, do you have any lights on the battery when you try to turn on battery, any picture or videos of battery situation, can it be connected with BMSQt if yes give us battery information including firmware, boot loader versions etc. also tell us your location (Country/City). give us this information so we can analyse it guide you more precisely.The battery in question is ES1000812P018186 with a date stamp of 11/8/23, it is the oldest of the 6 batteries that I have, and it was purchased from NAZ Solar in Flagstaff. I have disconnected this battery from the communications chain for the time being, it is last in the system of 6. The battery will not start, and the only light on the battery that is on is the power light, no other LEDs are lit. This system is in the United States in Albuquerque, NM.
Due to the failure of the firmware upgrade, the battery is currently non-responsive to input from Hyper Terminal, efforts to load C16 firmware using XMODEM start working but then disappear. Using BMS V2.8.4 on Windows, if I power cycle the battery, push the red button and then use the WAKE function in BMS, I am given the opportunity to upload firmware, the Transmit Progress bar goes to 100%, then I get the message “Please Wait for Battery to Upgrade”, then the message “Battery Update Error, Please Check Battery or Update Battery!” This was using the SPBMS16SRPV1.5.28.C16 firmware on the PytesUSA web site, it fails, I suspect because of the boot loader, which I can’t update until the battery is running again. To get the battery running again, I suspect that I need older C8 firmware that works with the older bootloader, but I can’t find older firmware anywhere.
Because the battery won’t start, I can’t get any current information, but I know it was running C8 firmware, and I think it had the 1.09 bootloader (not sure about the bootloader)
I am attaching a file with all the information I could gather on the other 5 batteries, I noted that I have firmware SPBMS16SRP2205V1.5.25.C16 on 3 batteries and SPBMS16SRPV1.5.26.C16 on 2 batteries, other that the .25 and .26 difference, what does the 2205 signify in the firmware level? Once the problem battery is working again, will I need to upgrade all batteries to the current SPBMS16SRPV1.5.28.C16 firmware to insure smooth operation? The other 5 batteries have the 1.14 bootloader, I assume that this bootloader can do the upgrade to 1.5.28.C16? This information came from the info query in HyperTerminal, from BMS and from Solar Assistant, the balance of the system seems to be working well.
