Two V5 Battery Imbalance
Recently we have two V5 5.12kWh installed in parallel with Solis S5-EH1P6K-L inverter. Batteries are set to nighttime charging from a minimum 20% SOC to 100% SOC. However, I noticed an abnormal SOC % trend on the inverter app interface:
Morning Charging – 4:00am SOC – 75%, total energy input to battery 4.2 kWh. By 4:45am, SOC – 100% and total energy input to battery 4.4 kWh.
Evening Discharge – 18:25pm SOC – 53%, total energy discharge 5.8 kWh. By 18:45pm, SOC – 20% and total energy discharge 6.6 kWh.
Is this due to two batteries being imbalanced? If that is the case, how can I resolve it?

Are you feeding the positive cable from the inverter/charger to the top battery plus and the negative cable from the inverter to the negative of the bottom battery?

See the installation photo taken for your reference. I believe it has been installed as you suggested.
The system has been commissioned for more than 2 weeks. The battery charge limit (from inverter) was set at 50A, i.e. 2.6 kW max. I have also set a longer hold charge period (12 hours a day) in the last 7 days, to allow the batteries to balance themselves.
Here is some data from this morning. Batteries were charged from 11.30pm last night and in charge mode until now.
My Solis inverter report:
11.30pm – Battery SOC 18%
3:18am – Battery SOC 90% – Energy Input to battery 8.1 kWh ; Voltage 55.1V
3.38am – Battery SOC 100% – Energy input to battery 8.2 kWh; Voltage 55.0 V
It seems like acting correctly despite the SOC reporting on the Solis application.
Is there another way I can obtain the battery SOC data directly from the battery, or via Wi-fi? Thank you.

Hi Howard,
I think the only way is to either get the WiFi dongle for the Pytes batteries or connect via the serial console port to the master battery directly with a PC. I haven’t done that yet, but the settings are described in the documents of Pytes. You need a USB to RS-232 cable and connect with a TTY com program (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.) so you can send commands via the master battery and it will send back the data and statistics for both of your batteries. I have to do this myself, as I currently have 4 battery banks (5 this week, I’m adding 1 more) all in parallel, so I’d like to see what the status of all are.
